Paul J. Sears, 67, of Pendleton, SC passed away at his home September 3, 2025 surrounded by family. Born in Anderson, SC he was the son of the late James Clinton Sears and Myrtle Anderson Sears. Known as a “gentle giant” Paul enjoyed life to the fullest riding motorcycles and racing cars that he built from scratch with the help of his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of almost 37 years, Joyce Smith Sears, his daughter Bertie Smith Baxter (Clark) of Sandy Springs, SC, and his two sons Douglas Martin (Amy) of Easley, SC and Dusty Joe Martin of Greenville, SC. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law Debbie Sears.
Besides riding his Harley with friends and winning car races, Paul loved spending time with his family and was their greatest supporter. He also had a wonderful sense of humor that kept his friends and family wondering what he would say next. Paul’s one-liner, “And the crowd went wild!” was known to all who loved him and will be missed!
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother Charles David Sears, his sister Dorothy Francis Sears and his grandson Wyatt Kincaid Short. Visitation and Services will be held at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home at the Central-Clemson Commons on Sunday, September 7, 2025 with visitation beginning at 1pm followed by the funeral at 2pm.
