Paul Eugene Simmons, 83, of 213 Sylvia Road, died Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the McCall Hospice House.
Born in Six Mile, a son of the late William Walter and Mary Kelly Simmons, Mr. Simmons retired from the Glenwood Plant of Mayfair Mills and was a member of Galilee Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, David Eugene (Louise) Simmons of Liberty, and Thomas Gary Simmons, Sr., of Easley; three daughters, Mary Ann Porter (Cecil) and Linda Joyce Nix all of Easley, and Patsy J. Raines (Fred) Raines of Pickens; two step-sons, James P. Wooten (Darnell) of Central, and Terry Lynn Wooten and wife, of Easley; a step-daughter, Brenda Wooten Elrod (Marvin) of Easley; twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Finley Simmons, a daughter, Jonnie Louise Collins Cooper, a brother, Clyde Simmons, four sisters, Olie Keys, Pearl Gravley, Inez Chapman and Ethel Woodring, and two step-sons, Roger D. Wooten and Ricky Dean Wooten.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
