Paul Allen Slaton, Sr., 92, of 101 Bishop Branch Road, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Stevens County, GA, he was a son of the late Charlie Lindsey and Willie Alice Kinley Slaton. He was a retired carpenter having worked for Daniel Construction Company for 32 years. Mr. Slaton was a member of Refuge Baptist Church and Pendleton Masonic Lodge #34 AF & AM.
Surviving are a son, Paul A. Slaton, Jr. and wife Linda of Pendleton; a daughter, Norma Jean Gosnell of Piercetown Community; two brothers, J.M. Slaton of Pendleton, Albert Slaton of Townville; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nellie Mae Griffin Slaton; a son, Thomas Lee Slaton; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday at Refuge Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Pace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body is at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday night from 6 PM until 8 PM and will be placed in the church at 1 PM on Saturday.
The family is at the home of his son, 2306 Old Greenville Highway; Pendleton, SC 29670.
