Peggy Jean Campbell

Peggy Jean Darnell Campbell, 96, wife of the late George H. Campbell, of Piedmont, passed away Friday, October 16, 2026.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Lois McCuen Darnell.

She was a great cook who cherished her family and was always known for her warm smile, which she always wore.

Peggy is survived by sons, George A. Campbell of Piedmont, Gary M. Campbell (Louise) of Liberty, David G. Campbell (Beverly) of Liberty, and Charles Campbell (Linda) of Williamston; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband of 53 years, she was preceded in death by sons, Tim Campbell and Jerry D. Campbell; daughters, Rebecca Campbell and Linda Jean Campbell; and her sisters, Dorothy Hayes, Marie Farr, and Sara Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2026 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2026 at the funeral home.
