Peggy (Bagwell) Merck, 78, went to be with the Lord on April 9th at Emeritus Anderson Place, Anderson, SC. She was born on June 27th, 1934, in Anderson County to the late Fred and Marie Bagwell. Peggy grew up in Piercetown, and graduated from White Plains High School in 1952. After high school, she attended Furman University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to teach school in Anderson County Districts 1 and 4 for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Peggy married James K. Merck in 1959 in Piedmont, and they had just recently celebrated their 54th anniversary. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, and served the Lord faithfully there for many years.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Merck, of the home; her sister, Frances Kowalski of Piedmont; her daughter, Suzanne Tripp of Piedmont; her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Bonnie Merck, of Piedmont; eight grandchildren (Weston Tripp, and wife, Heather, of Richmond, Kentucky; Lance Tripp of Columbia; Thomas Tripp, Chase Garner, Jordan Tripp, Abbi Merck, Connor Merck, and Carson Merck, all of Piedmont); and two great-grandchildren (Wes and Hadley Tripp, of Richmond, Kentucky).

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marie Bagwell, and by her brother, Howard Bagwell of Summerville.

A funeral service will be held at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church at 101 Pisgah Road, Easley, SC, on Friday, April 12th at 3:30 PM with Dr. Randolph Kowalski and Mr. Weston Tripp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.
