Peggy Ann Crooke Starnes, 83 formerly of Pleasant Grove Road, wife of the late Johnny Starnes, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
Born in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late Jeff E. and Susie Hensley Crooke, Mrs. Starnes retired from Mecklenburg Group Homes after twenty-fives years of service and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Marshville, NC.
Surviving are three sisters, Mary C. Mills of Pageland, and Martha Sue Crooke and Brenda Fay Waters, both of Monroe, NC; three grandsons, Tim Tarlton of Monroe, NC and Jared Starnes and Christopher Starnes, both of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; several great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and serveral nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Starnes was predeceased by a son, John Fitzgerald Starnes, a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Tarlton, two brothers, Jack Crooke and Joe Crooke, and by a granddaughter, Tenara Smith.
Memorial services wil be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church in Marshville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, 37 Villa Road, Suite B109, Greenville, SC 29615-3038
