Peggy Louise Upchurch

Peggy Louise Upchurch, 88, of Westminster, South Carolina, wife of the late Joe E. Upchurch, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at her home. 

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Vance Fowler. Peggy was a regular member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she embraced her radiant faith. She graduated from Welcome High School in 1953. She later retired from Greenville County School District. Some of her fondest memories include camping, sewing and writing music. She was a member of the Red Hat Society for over 10 years where she traveled worldwide alongside other women to pursue friendship, fun and freedom in the midst of a busy life. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Martha Finley (Richard), Lynn Gerwig, and Angela Hathaway; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She is predeceased by her parents Mary and Vance Fowler; and daughter Teresa Rogers. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. 

The family requests memorials be made out to a charity of your choice. Additionally, the family would like to especially thank Patriot Hospice & Palliative Care. The staff did an exceptional job in extending precious time, energy and effort that was devoted to making sure that Peggy was comfortable and cared for throughout her final days which allowed for comfort to those who loved her.
