Obituary

Peggy Elizabeth Loveland Wood, 84, of Easley, South Carolina, wife of the late Jerry “Don” Wood, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Born on March 26, 1942, in Anderson County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Newton Loveland and Mildred Spivey Loveland Gordon. Peggy’s journey began with a nurturing spirit and unwavering faith. A devoted Christian, she was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church, and also attended College Park Church for many years. Her faith shaped every facet of her life, infusing her actions with kindness and compassion, a gracious influence remembered by all who knew her. Peggy attended Draughon’s School of Business, equipping herself with skills she brought home to her dearest calling, homemaker. It is within the walls of her home, and in the hearts of her family, that Peggy’s legacy flourished most brightly. She was, above all, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her greatest joy was found in the company of family, her heart expanding with each generation, cherishing every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peggy’s hands were rarely still, her creative spirit manifesting in a myriad of pursuits. She enjoyed cooking and baking, often gathering loved ones around the table to share in her generosity. Needle and thread, paper and scissors, these, too, became extensions of her warmth, as Peggy found pleasure in sewing, crafting, and scrapbooking, each item a testament to her thoughtful touch and keen eye for the sentimental. Those who received her creations knew they held a piece of her heart. She also loved shopping, going to the mountains, and car rides.

Peggy is survived by her son, Greg Wood (Jacci); two daughters, Pam Horton (Layne) and Lynn Madden (Marty); a sister, Joyce Maness (Ernie); nine grandchildren, Jamie Horton (Rebecca), Trey Horton (Leslie), Daniel Horton (Brittany), Taylor Smith (Rich), Bailey Smith (Urban), Camden Smith, Jackson Wood (Paisley), Jenna Wood, and Jonah Wood (Cerise); seven great-grandchildren, Joseph, Aiden, Sebastian, Branley, Isla, Sage, Scarlett, and one on the way; and a special friend, Boyd.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery - West.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:15 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted.
