PENELOPE (PENNY) JARRELL FITCH - Clemson

Penelope 'Penny' Jarrell Fitch, 74, wife of Lewis T. Fitch of 109 Robin Street, Clemson, died December 26, 2006 at Clemson Downs. Native of Rock Hill, SC and the daughter of Hampton M. and Jurelle Little Jarrell of Rock Hill, SC. She was a Librarian and Homemaker. Before becoming a full time mother she worked at the Hyattsville MD Library, The Library of Congress, and the NC State Library.

She graduated from Duke and UNC where she earned degrees in English and Library Science. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and was a long term member of the Holy Trinity Altar Guild, serving several times as Chair. She was also a member of First Clemson City Election Board and the League of Women Voters.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Lewis are son Edward J. Fitch and daughter Elizabeth H. Fitch. She was predeceased by her son John H. Fitch (1962-1970).

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:30pm at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson. The family will receive friends after the service at the parish house.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish or to the Pickens County United Fund.
