Mr. Peter Klaus Senkiw, 66, husband of Dixie Lynn Senkiw, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at Baptist Easley, Hospital.
Born March 3, 1946 in Bennigsen, Germany, he was the son of the late Stefan and Hedwig Martel Senkiw. Peter immigrated to the U.S. with his family in June of 1951. He grew up in Chatham County and graduated from Pittsboro High School in Pittsboro, NC in 1964. He served in the Navy, and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged in 1971. Peter attended radio announcing school in Atlanta, GA, and was a radio announcer for many years in TN, NC and SC. After ending his radio announcing career, he began driving a long distance truck in 1981 and retired in 2008 with CFI. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, are a son, Richard Bradley Senkiw and his fiance� Angela Hix of Anderson; three sisters, Elsbeth S. Johnson (Bennie) of Pittsboro, NC, Irma S. Whipps (Jimmy) of Hampstead, NC, and Ella S. Oldham (John) of Wilmington, NC.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
Vistation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family is at the home.
