Phillip “Briss” Owen, 75, of Easley, loving husband of Diane Owen, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
Born in Tuckasegee, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Jesse and Selma Harris Owen. Briss was a family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always went above and beyond to provide for his family. Briss had a heart full of love that he shared generously with everyone around him. His kind and selfless nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him. One of Briss's greatest joys in life was playing with his great-grandchildren. They brought so much light and happiness to his life, and he adored every moment he spent with them. It was evident how much they loved him by the way their eyes lit up whenever he entered the room. Briss also had a love for nature and spent a lot of time in the mountains throughout his life. He found peace amid the beauty of the natural world around him and cherished every moment he spent there. In addition to being a devoted family man, Briss had a green thumb and took pride in his garden which flourished under his care. His love for gardening was evident in the bountiful harvests that were enjoyed by friends and family alike. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by three children, Debbie Stewart (Ricky), Loretta Rhodes (Tony), and Eric Owen; two brothers, Charles Owen and Harold Owen; five grandchildren, Kyle Owen, Justin Stewart, Russell Stewart (Savannah), Kayla Colangelo (Anthony), and Gus Owen; and four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Owen, Anthony Owen, C.J. Stewart, Chappel Stewart, and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sabrina Anderson; and five siblings, Carmel Owen, Marvin Owen, Dennis Owen, Daniel Owen, and Wanda Neeley.
