Prue Milton Dacus, Jr.

December 14, 1946 — October 4, 2025

Pickens, SC

Mr. Prue Milton Dacus, Jr., 78, husband of Kathy Campbell Dacus, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family he worked so hard to provide for and protect on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Prue Milton Dacus, Sr. and the late Vera Elaine Friddle Dacus, Prue was a 1965 graduate of Dacusville High School and attended Falls College. Having been raised on his family farm, Prue learned early the value of hard work, humility, and perseverance, qualities that defined every chapter of his life. After proudly serving in the United States Army, he became a decorated Vietnam War veteran, receiving the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice.

For 52 years, Prue devoted six days a week to a career in car sales, not just because he loved the work, but because he loved the people it supported. Providing for his family was his greatest purpose, and he did it with unwavering dedication and quiet pride working up until 2024 when he retired from Benson Ford.

Outside of work, Prue found joy on the golf course and in any conversation about sports, especially football and baseball. His love for the game was matched only by his love for a good meal and a perfectly told story at the 19th hole.

He leaves behind a legacy of grit, loyalty, and love. Proof that true success is not measured by titles, but by the lives touched along the way.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty-four years, are his daughters, Dabney Dacus Smith (Todd) of Alpharetta, GA, and Lindsay Dacus Davis (Charles, Jr.) of Central; his sisters, Linda D. Jones of Easley, and Sheryl Dean "Deanie" Miller (J.B.) of Anderson; and his grandchildren, Maryn Peters (Tommy), Hayden Smith, Coralie Davis and Pyper Davis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dacus was predeceased by three brothers, Howard Dacus, Kenneth Dacus and Grover Dacus; and three sisters, Olivia Batson, Clara Hamilton and Marcelle Sandzen.
