Ralph Smith, 102, of Laurens, husband of the late Mary Lankford Smith and the late Rosa Black Smith, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center.
Born June 2, 1909 in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Kate Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from Alice Manufacturing with 65 years of service. He was very active all his life and never met a stranger. He was of the Baptist faith and a former Deacon.
He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn Smith Owens of Greer; sister, Lorene Rogers; grandchildren, Christopher Owens, Jr. (Ann), Dr. David Owens, (Juli); great-grandchildren, Christopher Owens, III, Sarah Anne Owens, Reid Owens, and Daniel Owens.
In addition to his wives and mother, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mary Owens and son-in-law Dr. Douglas Owens.
Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 PM Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:45 AM prior to the service at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
