Ralph Eugene Southerland, 85, formerly of Easley, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, N.C.
Born in Greenville, Mr. Southerland was a son of the late Lewis Fletcher and Ellen Davis Southerland. He retired from Mayfair Mills-Glenwood Division as a weaver. Mr. Southerland was a member of First Assembly of God and he loved gardening. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Juanita Johnson Southerland of Kingsport, Tennessee; a son, Terry L. Southerland of Brevard, NC; two daughters, Donna Tipton of Kingsport, TN and Rebecca Reece of Easley, SC; a brother, Robert Southerland of Taylors, SC; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Southerland was predeceased by two brothers, Claude and Clarence Southerland; and two sisters, Clara Fowler and Ruby Southerland.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday at First Assembly of God. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00 PM Saturday prior to the service.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Rebecca Reece, 108 Washington Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
