Ralph H. Thompson, Clemson
A memorial service for Ralph H. Thompson, 82 of Clemson will be held at University Lutheran Church on Sunday November 4, 2007 at 3 p.m.
Born in Ashland, Wisconsin, March 1, 1925, Ralph became a career Air Force officer. During his 30 years of active duty, he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He earned a Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Purple Heart, Air Force Commendation Medal, WW II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal. In August 1973, after retiring from the Air Force, Lt. Col. Thompson and his wife Marylyn moved to Clemson, SC, where they became active in the community and in the University Lutheran Church. In 1975, Ralph earned his Master's Degree in Industrial Education from Clemson University.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Marylyn B. Thompson; sister, Margery T. Taylor and her husband, Thomas S. Taylor; daughters, Sara T. Callaway and her husband, John L. Callaway, Marta T. Saks and her husband, Charles E. Saks; grandchildren, John Kristian Callaway and his wife Margaret, Amy L. Callaway; great-grandson, William Daniel Callaway; nephews, William P. Bright, Ted A. Taylor.
