Ray Cassell, 77, of 517 Anthony Road, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Belle Satterfield Cassell. He retired from Wal-Mart in Easley and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Cassell is survived by his wife, Bessie Reeves Cassell of the home; a son, Kenneth Cassell of Dallas, TX; a daughter, Janie Boone of Indiana; two step-daughters, Gail Franks of Greenville and Connie Medlin of Pickens; three sisters, Ruby McAbee of Greenville, Lyvonne McClure of Jackson, GA and Lucille Minter of Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Cassell; a step-son, Denny Medlin; a brother, R.D. Cassell; three sisters, Eva Stephens, Adell Ragsdale and Anne Kirkham and by two granddaughters.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home- Downtown, Easley, Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The family is at the home.
