Vivian Raymond Harrell, 91, formerly of Clemson went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 2, 2012.

Born in Pearson, GA, he was the son of the late James Lovette and Marie Eleanor Deaton Harrell. Ray served in WWII with the US Navy attached to the Marine Corps Amphibious forces as a field medic. Ray and his wife Kathryn came to Clemson in 1956 where he was employed as a data processing administrator at Clemson University until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson since 1956 where he served on various church committees. He was also a member of the Clemson Lions Club and the Oconee Gem and Mineral Society.

Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of 67 years, Kathryn Pollock Harrell, are three children and their spouses; Bill and Kathy Merritt of El Paso, TX, Duane and Marcia Harrell of Gastonia, NC and Garry and Karen Craddock of Newnan, GA; seven grandsons, Wesley and Braxton Merritt, Brandon and Andrew Harrell, David, Jeremy and Matthew Craddock; and two great-grandsons, Hudson and Ledger Merritt sons of Wesley and Gracie Merritt.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday at First Baptist Church of Clemson with Dr. Rusty Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Collins Home, P.O Box 745, Seneca, SC 29679 or to the Alzheimers Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.

Kathryn and her family wish to express their appreciation to the staff at Clemson Downs for their dedicated loving care during Ray's illness and to all the family and friends for their loving care and support over the last year. Ray, known as "Boppa" to his family, will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in God's promise to his children that we will see him again one day.
