Ray H. Owens, 74, of 133 Grace Lane, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Earl Russell and Mary Stewart Owens, Mr. Owens retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years of service and was a life-time member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir and was teacher of the Men's Bible Class. He was a Guardian Ad Litem and a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Robin Crosby Owens of the home; a son Mike Owens (Helen), of Easley; a daughter, Tracey Watkins (Chris), of Greenville ; step-sons, Chris Kelly, of Easley and Clay Kelly, of Liberty ; grandchildren, Amanda Horn (Paul), Brandi Crum (Alan) and Kayla Watkins, all of Easley ; step-grandchildren, April Venable and Amanda Venable, both of Easley ; great-grandchildren, Owen Horn, Griffin Horn and Aidan Venable.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy Holcombe Owens, and by four brothers, Bill Owens, Melvin "Pug" Owens, Bennett Owens and Marion Charles Owens.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church with the Reverend Barry Cannon and the Reverend Julian Ford officiating.

Members of the Men's Bible Class are invited to serve as Escort of Honor for the memorial service.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church - Building Fund, 309 Pelzer Highway, Easley, SC 29642 or to Friends of Pickens County Guardian Ad Litem, 140 W. Main Street, Pickens, SC 29671.

The family is at the residence.
