Rev. Buddy Ray Russell, 59, of Saco Lowell Road, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 12, 2013..
Born in Waynesville, NC, a son of the late Ransom Moody "Buddy" and Gladys Frady Russell, Rev. Russell was a graduate of Tuscola High School, Asheville-Buncombe Technical College and Luther Rice Seminary. He moved to Easley in 1974 to work with Platt-Saco Lowell. Mr. Russell was employed with Michelin North America as the Greenville Plant Engineering Manager. In 1999 he was called into the ministry and became the pastor of Riverview Baptist Church in September of 2006 where he presently served.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon League Russell of the home; two daughters, Laura McDonald (William) of Piedmont and Lindsey Titus (Charles) of Easley; a brother, John R. Russell (Louise) of Leicester, NC; a sister, Nina Messer (Everett) of Waynesville, NC; and three grandchildren, Hunter Ransom Russell, Wm. Levi McDonald and Raelynn Abigail Titus. In addition to his parents, Mr. Russell was predeceased by two brothers, William M. Russell and Milas Scott "Bo" Russell and by his in-laws, William G. and Betty Lou Hawkins League.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Sunday at Riverview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday and will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Riverview Baptist Church, 118 Old Pendleton Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
The family is at the residence.
