Raymond H. "Smokey" Pelfrey

Raymond Harvey Pelfrey, 85, husband of Mable Bryant Pelfrey, passed away peacefully Monday evening, August 7, 2023. He was born February 15, 1938 in Anderson, the son of Furman W. and Margie Hunnicutt Pelfrey.

Smokey was a loving husband and father as well as an active member of the LaFrance Church of God. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially on bus tours.

Smokey is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Mable; a daughter, Melanie Pelfrey of Pendleton; a son, Greg Pelfrey of Fountain Inn; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Pelfrey and Ron Ellington; and a sister, Bobbie Wardlaw.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 11th at at the LaFrance Church of God, 265 Old Anderson Road, Pendleton. The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon, prior to the service.

The burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Fredda Patterson, NP and Interim Hospice for the loving care they had for Smokey.
