Mr. Raymond B. "R.B." Smith, Central
Mr. R. B. Smith, 87, of Eighteen Mile Creek Rd, husband of Martha S. Smith, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Lila Doyle Rehab Center in Seneca.
Born in Westminster, SC on January 19, 1919, R.B. was the son of Richard Arthur and Lula Land Smith. He was a builder and owner of Smith's Department Store in Central for 34 years, he closed it in 1984. He was a faithful member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years of the home, sons Don and wife Marilyn of Anderson, SC, Steve and wife Caroline of Kennesaw, GA, Scott and wife Karen of Central, SC, brother Jessie Smith of Seneca, SC, sister Bertie Lee Finley of Easley, SC, four grandchildren Brian and wife Maggie, Stephanie, Bruce and wife Jennifer and Ashley and fiance Joey Ray and 2 great grand children along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers Levis, Sam, Robert, and Ed Smith, two sisters, Annebell Chastain Littlejohn and Inez Owens, and grandson Steven Smith.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2pm at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Central. Interment will follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The body is at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30-1:30 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, PO Box 186, Central, SC 29630
The family is at the home, 1340 18 Mile Creek Rd., Central, SC 29630 where visitors are welcome to come by.
