Dr. Reginald Andrew (Reg) Baumgardner, 76, of 281 Tugaloo Shores Road and formerly of Clemson, passed over Friday, October 7, 2011 at his home.
Born in Taylors, SC, he was a son of the late Horace P. and Eva Marie Fayssoux Baumgardner. Dr. Baumgardner was a graduate of Clemson University and earned his Masters and PhD. in Horticulture from the University of Maryland. He was a Professor of Horticulture at Clemson University for 25 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clemson. Reg enjoyed fishing and growing daylilies.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Edie Butler Baumgardner of the home; daughters, Mimi Marie Baumgardner Metcalfe of Clemson and Molly Baumgardner Wimmer and husband, Markus of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Bo and Charlie Metcalfe and Ana and Andrew Wimmer.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann Baumgardner Murray; and a brother, H.P. Baumgardner, Jr.
Memorial services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, Oct. 9th at First Baptist Church of Clemson.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Clemson, Building Fund, 397 College Avenue, Clemson, SC 29631 or to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, c/o Oconee Medical Center Foundation, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
