Ressie Murphree

Ressie Dalton Murphree, 101, formerly of 843 Gentry Memorial Highway, wife of the late B.F. Murphree, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Charles and DeLoma Stewart Dalton, Mrs. Murphree graduated from Winthrop College with a B.A in education and did further study at Clemson University. After teaching in the Pickens County School System for thirty-seven years, she retired in 1975 to enjoy her many hobbies.
Mrs. Murphree was a member of Arial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, worked with the WMU, and helped start the church library.
Surviving are a son, Mike Murphree and his wife, Diane, of Seneca and a daughter, Mary Jane Murphree of Easley.
Mrs. Murphree was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Bertha D. Durham and two brothers, Roy and Fred Dalton.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Dr. Danny Parton officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 11:00 until 11:45 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of The Willows and Lila Doyle Nursing Home for the love and care shown to Mrs. Murphree and her family.
