Richard "Tim" Babb

Richard “Tim” Babb, 80, loving husband of 59 1/2 years to Mary Finley Babb, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, just a few days from his 81st birthday. Born in Danville, VA, he was a son of the late Reese and Azalea Jordan Babb. Tim grew up in Fountain Inn, SC, and then settled with his wife on the Finley family land in the Flat Rock Community in Pickens County.

Tim was of Baptist faith and a very educated man who shared his knowledge with many. He received his undergraduate degree at Mars Hill College and a master’s degree from Western Carolina University. Mr. Babb then became an educator at Berea High School and was the Principal of Calhoun Falls High School and later, Parker High School.

Tim enjoyed traveling across the United States spending time with his wife in their RV and camping together. He also cherished his family time.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rick Babb (Donna) of Huntersville, NC; daughter, Amy Jones (Laddie) of Moncks Corner, SC; and grandchildren Austin Babb (Anna), Matthew Babb, Christopher Babb (Lexi), Mary Neely Huff (Pierce) and Graham Jones.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers, Reese “Bud” Babb, Jr., Jim Babb and Bill Babb. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. A private memorial service will be held later.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made to Pickens County Meals on Wheels at 349 Edgemont Ave., Liberty, SC 29657.
