Richard Lee "Buster" Bennett, 87, of 502 Brushy Creek Road, husband of the late Betty Ruth Childs Bennett, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Carterville, Illinois, Mr. Bennett was a son of the late Jesse Fern and Sulah Jordan Bennett Spiller, and the step-son of Albert Spiller. He worked at Sangamo Electric, and he retired as operations manager from Shedd's Food Products. Mr. Bennett was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving are a son, Ralph Bennett (Cathy) of Easley; four grandchildren, Mariea Wilson (Ray), Anndriea Simon (Marty), Leah Rice (BJ), and David Finley; five great-grandchildren, Bennett Simon, Jackson Wilson, Liliana Rice, Savanna Rice, and Joanna Rice; two nieces, Bootsie Moore and Vickie Plumlee, and several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Dan and Debbie Keene; and an honorary grandson, Craig (Gregg) Roper.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family is at the home of Ralph and Cathy Bennett.
