Richard Clayton "Dick" Cash, 80, born April 24, 1929, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday morning surrounded by his loving family.

Son of the late Crawley Baxter Cash, Sr. and Felicia Stone Cash, Dick grew up in Blacksburg, South Carolina. He served in both the United States Marine Corps and Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War.

Dick retired after 40 years of service from Southern Bell (AT&T). He was a passionate outdoorsmen with a love for fishing and canoeing. He has a deep love for his beloved State of South Carolina and enjoyed writing about his many journeys down its rivers with his lifelong best friend John David Carlton.

Dick was a dedicated Christian and member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church of Easley and the James Tallent Sunday School Class.

Most known for his love of family and wife of 41 years, Jimmie Lee Cash. He is also survived by his son, James "Jim" Baxter Cash (Leigh), of Los Alamos, N.M. ; daughters, Kimberly C. Patterson (Alan) and Penny Cash Crocker (Kevin), all of Easley ; a sister, Felicia Amidon (James), of Winston-Salem, NC ; grandchildren, K.C. Dixianna Dowlen Waldrop (Raymond), of Greenville, Krista Patterson, Clayton David Crocker and Colin Joseph Crocker, all of Easley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Crawley B. Cash, Jr.

Funeral Services will be 2:30 pm Monday February 1, 2010 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with the Reverend Rodney Graham and Dr. Jim Spencer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Members of the James Tallent Sunday School Class of Brushy Creek Baptist Church will serve as honorary escort for the service.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm Monday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

The family is at the home.

The family would like to thank Hospice Care of South Carolina and Visiting Angels for their compassionate service and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Alzheimers Association, 301 University Ridge, Greenville, SC 29601.
