Claude Richard Ellison, 73, went home to be with his Lord on August 4, 2009. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was a son of Nelle Miller Ellison and the late Claude R. Ellison. He was predeceased by a brother, Tommy Ellison.
In addition to his wife, Nancy Hester Ellison, he is survived by his mother, a sister, Vicky Ellison, daughter and son-in-law, Bridget and Scott Preston ; a son, C. Richard (Rick) Ellison, Jr. and his fiance Kelly Adams ; grandchildren, Brittney and Sean Preston. He is also survived by his step-children, Angie Clardy, Jan Hester, Kim and Todd Freeman and grandchildren, Emily and Ben Freeman. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Sally Dewar and Gretchen Ellison ; nephew, Wes Ellison and lifetime friend and neighbor, Herbert W. Cuthbertson.
He was a graduate of Berea High School, served in the United States Air Force and retired from Stevens Aviation. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday August 9, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road by Reverend Roy McCall.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The V Foundation for Cancer Research, 106 Towerview Court, Cary, NC 27513.
