Reverend Richard Lee Hawk, 87, husband of Nell Rodgers Hawk, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at his home in Clemson on Friday, November 20, 2020.
Richard was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1933, a son of the late William John and Wilda Christy Hawk. He graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in Pittsburgh and was a 1961 graduate of Mercer University in Macon, GA and earned a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest,
NC. Richard was a minister of the gospel and pastored many Baptist churches in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Richard was a member of Pendleton First Baptist Church and was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Richard was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed following Clemson Tiger sports, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Braves, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also enjoyed coaching local youth teams and church leagues. He loved gardening, fishing, golfing and spending family vacations at Ocean Isle Beach. He also loved to write, paint, build, and read, especially historical books.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Katherine Long (Tim) of Spartanburg; sons, Richard Lee Hawk, Jr. (Amy) of San Antonio, TX and Rodger J. Hawk of Anderson; 11 grandchildren, Kaitlin Seay (Josh), Anna-Grace Long, Elijah Long (Melissa), Samuel Long, J.P. Hawk, Sarah Hawk, Charlie Hawk, Aubrey Hawk, Athena Donald, William Hawk and Kathlyn Hawk; and one great granddaughter, Hadley Kate Seay.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur Hawk, Allen Hawk and Bill Hawk.
Funeral Services will be 11 AM, Monday, November 23, 2020 at Pendleton First Baptist Church with Rev. Jennifer Rygg officiating.

A private graveside committal service will be held Monday afternoon at Oconee Memorial Park.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, facial coverings will be required and social distancing protocols will be observed.
