Richard K. (Richey) Hunter

Richard Keith "Richey" Hunter, 50, husband of Alice Williams Hunter, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 in Monroe, GA.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of Edgar Theodore "Teddy" and Elaine Henderson Hunter of Clemson. Richey was a 1984 graduate of Pendleton High School and was a Commercial Truck Driver with AutoZone. Richey was a commissioner for the Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts, a former scoutmaster for Pendleton Troop 94 and a member of the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood. During his time as a Scoutmaster, Richey helped over 15 boys attain the Rank of Eagle Scout and mentored many young men. He and his wife were very active in Zion United Methodist Church as former youth leaders, working the Salkahatchee mission and many other committees of the church and were members of Pendleton Lions Club and former volunteers with the Pendleton EMS. Richey enjoyed helping others and especially enjoyed camping, cooking and teaching boy scout skills.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a daughter, Casey Lee Hunter of the home; son, Alexander James Hunter of the home; brothers, Harold "Mackey" (Angela) Hunter of Abbeville, SC and Patrick James Hunter of Clemson; sister, Tracey Hunter Richards of Sandy Springs, SC; and nieces, Tricia Isbell and Jennifer Rigdon.
Richey was predeceased by his family's longtime friend, Harold Alexander "Mac" McKeown.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 PM Friday April 7, 2017 at Zion United Methodist Church, 5708 Highway 187 N, Anderson, SC 29625.
Memorial services will be 4 PM, Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the church with Revs. Beverly CrowTipton and Mel Arant officiating.
A private burial will take place at a future date in the cemetery at Zion United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5708 Highway 187 N, Anderson, SC 29625 or to the Salkahatchee Mission of the church.
