Richard Lee Teter of Piedmont, South Carolina, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Rose Marie Sollie, his son David Teter of Sparta TN, his daughter Susan Marie Teter McGibeny of Greenville, SC, and granddaughters Natalie Marie McGibeny of Charlotte, NC and Leah Marie McGibeny of Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by his sons Richard Lee Teter, Jr, and Ronald Teter. He was born October 30, 1927 in Alpina, West Virginia, and leaves a sister, Louise Teter.
Richard was first and foremost a child of his Lord and Savior. He was a loving and devoted husband and dedicated father and grandfather. He served as Worshipful Master of Mountain Springs Masonic Lodge #302, and earned his 33rdDegree as a life-long member of this fraternity. He is a past Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) Operator earning a 25-year service award. He was a skilled mechanic, banjo picker, bowler, fisherman and an award-winning woodcarver with the Piedmont Woodcarvers Club. He served his country on active duty from 1950-1952 with the United States Army and completed his military service to his country in the United States Army Reserve.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 12, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Michael Cox, at Robinson Funeral Home in Easley, SC. Visitors will be received proceeding the service.
