Richard N. “Frog” Vickery
Richard Neil “Frog” Vickery, 67, formerly of Central but most recently living in the Philippines, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
The son of Miriam Roper Vickery and the late Larrion Luther Vickery of Central, Richard graduated from D.W. Daniel High School and studied welding at Tri County Technical College. An iron worker and welder by trade, he was best known for his boisterous personality and unconventional ways. No one who met “Frog” could forget him. He loved hunting, fishing, motorcycles and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his devoted partner Janeth Aranilla of the Philippines; sisters Dalene V. Parker (Pat) of Spartanburg, SC and Rebecca V. Steadman of Moore, SC; nephew Daniel Parker of Johns Island, SC; and niece Susanne P. Loelius (Billy) of Charlotte, NC.
In addition to his father, Frog was predeceased by his brother, Phillip Lee “Tadpole” Vickery.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home & Cremations, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC 29630.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:40 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association; Turning Point Free Will Baptist Church, 104 Fairview Church Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Parkway Free Will Baptist Church, P O Box 160283, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
