Rita Faye Bowen Rowland, 64, cherished wife of Ronnie Junior Bridges, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Greenville, SC to Nancy Whitlock Lyday and the late Donald "Donnie" Allen Bowen, she was of Baptist faith.
For twenty years, Rita dedicated herself to her career at Kmart, where her jovial presence and superb customer service made her a cherished part of the community. She brought a unique touch to her work, offering a smile and a listening ear to every person she encountered. Rita not only worked hard but also filled her days with the joy of interacting with her coworkers and customers, leaving behind fond memories for all who met her.
Rita was an animal lover at heart, with a special fondness for cats. Her home was always alive with the playful energy of her furry companions, reflecting her gentle nature and nurturing spirit. Rita cherished the bond she shared with her animals, finding joy and comfort in their unwavering affection.
In addition to her love for animals, Rita had a passion for collecting dolls, “what nots,” and “do dads.” Her treasures filled her home with stories, each item reflecting a piece of her vibrant personality and the joy she found in simple pleasures. She took immense pride in growing flowers, a testament to her nurturing spirit, where blooms flourished just as her love for life did.
Along with her significant other for 40 years, Rita is survived by daughter, Glenda Horn (Michael); son, Ronnie Ray Bridges, Jr.; grandchildren, Hailey, Austin, Aiden, Noah, Sophie, Timmy and Robert; great-grandchildren, Blake and Timmy, brothers, James Bowen (Laurie), Donnie Ray Bowen (Jennifer) and Tommy Bowen, and brother-in-law of the home, James Lewis Bridges.
Rita's greatest pride, however, was being a loving Nana. She poured her heart into her family, creating moments of laughter and love that her grandchildren will carry with them forever. Rita's legacy as a caring matriarch will echo in the hearts of those she loved the most.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by grandson, Timothy "T.J." Rowland and sister, Wanda Sue Alexander.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Living Sanctuary Church, 201 Piedmont Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673.
As we gather to honor Rita Faye Bowen Rowland, we not only mourn her passing but also celebrate the wonderful life she lived—a life marked by love for family, a heart for animals, and a spirit that will forever soar. She will be deeply missed, yet her affection will continue to inspire those she touched along her journey.
