Russell Jerome "Jay" Sykes, 77, of 205 Warrington Drive, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Winnsboro, he was a son of the late Marshall Russell and Josephine Smith Sykes and was a retired manager with the J.P. Stevens Parker Plant, formerly employed with U.S. Rubber Company in Winnsboro, and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Millie Jean Cooper Sykes of the home; one son, Russell Sykes and wife, Gwen, of N. Augusta, SC; three daughters, Ren Harper and husband, C. Douglass and Pamela "Beannie" Webb and husband, Larry, all of Greenville and Amy Nouryand husband, Anthony, of Daniel Island, SC; one sister, Shirley E. Sykes of Winnsboro; six grandchildren, Amber Lutz and husband, Jeff, Ashley Stipes and husband, Craig, Taylor Harper, Zachary Sykes, Lauren Sykes and Millie Noury; and two great-grandsons, Cooper and Carson Lutz.
Funeral Services will be 2 PM, Friday at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore and Rev. Dr. Spencer Hagood officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.
The family is at the home.
