Dr. Robert “Bob” Barrett, 68, of Clemson, passed away on March 15, 2023 after an unexpected accident.
Bob was born on August 10, 1954, to Troy and Robbie Barrett in Raleigh, NC. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina, and went on to earn his MBA at East Carolina University and his doctorate from Virginia Tech.
Bob took his first job as a professor in the school of business at Clemson University in 1984 where he met his beloved bride, Marcia, at Clemson United Methodist Church. They married in 1985 and Bob became the loving father to his daughter, Elizabeth, and his son, Robert. In 2017, Bob retired as the Dean of the Business School at Lander University. He and Marcia moved back to Clemson where he became actively involved with his family and community. Bob was an avid pickleball player and enjoyed following Tarheel and Tiger sports. He was a devoted member of Clemson United Methodist Church where he served faithfully as a Bible Study leader, started the Methodist Men, and supported the Wesley Foundation. He also served for many years with Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, and helping low income families file taxes. Most of all, Bob poured his heart into the grandchildren he adored - Lucy & Oliver Maxon and Banks, Pearson, & Rigby Harris.
Bob was predeceased by his father, mother and brother, Bill Barrett. He is survived by his wife, Marcia, children, Elizabeth Maxon and Robert Harris, grandchildren, brother, Jim Barrett, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a treasured husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle and friend. His kindness and selfless spirit will be remembered by many.
