Robert "Bo" Nelson Jeanes, 86, husband of Phalba McDonald Jeanes, of Easley, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, peacefully and surrounded by his family.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Dr. Robert P. and Myrtle Nelson Jeanes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Jeanes, and a brother, Perry Nelson Jeanes.
Bo earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Presbyterian College and a Master’s degree in Industrial Education from Clemson University, dedicating his career to education. He taught physics for 26 years at Greenville Technical College, serving as head of the physics department. He also later taught for 11 years at Clemson University in both physics and astronomy. Prior to his academic career, he served as Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Signal Corps, followed by several years in the National Guard.
He was a proud MG Car Club member and loved racing and collecting classic cars. (He loved taking them apart…yet not putting them back together!) A strong advocate for science and technology, he was a dedicated member of the American Association of Physics Teachers and was instrumental in obtaining the refractor telescope for the Roper Mountain Science Center. Bo was a devoted member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, lifelong member of Easley Presbyterian Church, and as an Eagle Scout, participated in the Eagle Scout Review Board. Most of all, he loved being with his children and grandchildren and they loved being with their Daddy Bo.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Bo is survived by daughters, Jennifer Nel Jeanes McAlister (Mike) of Easley and LeAnne Jeanes White (Sam) of Greenville; and grandchildren, Addison McAlister Baumgarner (Reagan), Zachary Michael McAlister, Margaret Grayson White, Jacob Hampton McAlister, and Sarah Katherine Jeanes White.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Easley Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025 in the church parlor.
