ROBERT LUTHER "BOB" BOWEN JR. - Central
Robert Luther "Bob" Bowen Jr., 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 16, 2006. He was born in Pickens County on March 8, 1926 to the late Robert L. and Ada Hendrix Bowen.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the European theater. He was also a life member of the Masonic Lodge 229 of Central, SC. He was a charter member of East Clemson Baptist Church and had formerly served as Deacon and Sunday School Director and was a member of the Men's Bible School Class. He was retired from the USDA at Clemson University after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Chapman Bowen; three sons, Robert L. "Bob" III, Barry C. and wife, LaVonda, and Brian C. and wife, Edna; seven grandchildren, Brad, Brett, Bethany, Chandler, Harrison, Logan, and Coker; and a sister, Francis Bowen Townsend of Greensboro, NC.
He was predeceased by four brothers; Hazel J., George C. "Shorty", James Gorbett, and John Marion "JM".
Bob leaves behind a legacy of love. Love for his Savior, love for his family, love for his friends, and love for his country.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at East Clemson Baptist Church with burial to follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson, SC. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
