Robert Milton Reeder Burns, 89, of 108 Antique Court died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at AnMed Health in Anderson, SC.
Born in Muncy, PA, he was a son of the late Robert B. and Nina Snyder Burns and a graduate of Muncy High School. He was a retired Industrial Engineer with GTE Sylvania in Montoursville, PA. He had a passion for community development and served in many capacities with local community organizations including serving as Chairman of the Danville, PA, Chamber of Commerce. He was a commercial pilot, served as a flight instructor and was former commander of Squadron 401, Civil Air Patrol in Pennsylvania. Bob also served as a Councilman for Muncy, PA. He was a Past President of Chapter #89 of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers in Central Pennsylvania, a consultant to Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), Industrial Resource Center in Pennsylvania. He was appointed by then Governor Casey of Pennsylvania to a task force to develop Economic Incentive Plan for the Kellogg Corporation. He was a Founding Board Member of Our Towns 2010, a long range vision program for Lycoming County in Central Pennsylvania. Bob was a WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Muncy, PA.
Surviving are his daughter, Roberta Ann Balliet of Pendleton; son, Robert Louis Raymond Burns (Ruth Glass Burns) of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Keith Balliet (Corina), Jason Burns, Justin Burns, Morgan Burns and Meredith Glass; great-grandchildren, Ethan Burns, Logan Burns, Luke Balliet and Ava Balliet.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Andy Balliet; brother, Louis G. Burns; sisters, Roberta Burns and Mae Treon Foster; and son-in-law, James Balliet
Memorial services will be 3 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
A graveside committal service will be held August 1, 2015 in Muncy, PA with Grenoble Funeral Home handling local arrangements.
The family is at the home.
