Robert L. Downing passed away at the Clemson Downs on June 4, 2014 at age 83.
Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on March 28, 1931 he was the son of James and Georgia Downing and had one sister, Nell McEwen. Bob earned a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Biology at Texas A & M and a Master's Degree in Wildlife Conservation at Oklahoma State University. He worked for the Georgia Wildlife Department and later for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Bob served in the U. S. Army. He was married to Patricia Franklin in 1966 until her death in 2003.
Bob was a wonderful uncle, friend and husband. Though he and Patricia had no children, he leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends and other family who thought of him as much more than an uncle or friend.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Clemson Downs for the loving care given to Bob. We would also like to thank Providence Care Hospice for their help in his last days.
