Robert W. (Bob) Hassold
Greenville, S.C.

Robert Wilkinson (Bob) Hassold, 89, lovingly known by family and friends as "Boondock", passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Born March 21, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bob was a son of the late Victor Carl and Margaret Wilkinson Hassold. After graduating from Hampden-Sydney College, Bob received his Masters Degree in Engineering from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences. Bob was an executive with Steel Heddle Manufacturing and later founded his own consulting firm, Humaneering International.

Boondock truly lived "Le Joie de Vivre" dedicated to family, business, community service, and his church. Boondock was easily recognizable driving around town in his little Red Toyota "Fox-mobile" pickup truck, loved the sweet potato waffles served at Tommy's Ham House, looked forward to getting fresh eggs and "Wanda" bread at the downtown and Rutherford Road Farmers Markets, and enjoyed the camaraderie he found at the Christ Church Men's Bible Study and the St. Andrews Society. Bob served twice as the President of The Greenville Symphony. In addition, Bob served on the Christ Church Episcopal School Board of Visitors.

But most of all, Bob loved people - and spread optimism, encouragement and fun wherever he went. Bob will be missed!

Surviving are his childhood sweetheart and wife of sixty-seven years, Anne Mitchell Crane Hassold, of the home; four sons, Rob Hassold (Kim), Jim Hassold, Chuck Hassold (Mary), and Ted Hassold (Michele); ten grandchildren, Anne Harris (Parke), Will Hassold (Kylie), Tee Hassold (Cassie), Kit Batson (Glenn), Crane Hassold (Megan), Gray Hudson (Eric), Reid MacEachern (Chris), Chase Hassold (Ashley), Austin Hassold, and Bridget Hassold; twelve great-grandchildren, Gracie and Sam Harris, Wynn and Wilkes Hassold, Ayden and Cam Hassold, Ford and Daley Hudson, Granger Anne, Deakin, and Teddy MacEachern, and Charlie Hassold; and triplet siblings, Dick and Peggy. Boondock was thrilled to celebrate the recent birth of Robert Wilkinson Hassold IV (Wilkes), representing the fourth generation bearing his name.

Bob was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Ford (Bonnie) Hassold; two great-grandchildren, John Robert (Rip) Hassold and Christopher Reid MacEachern; and a brother, Carl.

All friends are invited to a reception immediately following the service in the McKissick Refectory and the McCall Parlor (weather permitting Sloan Courtyard).
