Robert C. Haywood

Robert Clarence Haywood, 80, of 127 Canterbury Road, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Brookside Living Center in Anderson.
Born in Volusha County, Florida, a son of the late Harold Gardner and Nettie Viola Graham Haywood. Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1947. He advanced to T/Sgt before attending OCS. He retired as a Capt. in the USAF. He graduated from Florida State University with a BS in meteorology after being commissioned and served the rest of his life in that profession, first with the Air Force and then the National Weather Service. He retired from NWS in Pensacola, where he was the meteorologist in
charge. His avocation was acting, which he enjoyed for 30 years throughout the U.S. wherever he was stationed. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Clemson.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie Hamer Haywood of the home; two sons, Brent Hamer Haywood and wife, Anne of Suffern, NY and Todd Robert Haywood and wife, Betsy of Portland, OR; daughter, Dana Claire Howard and husband, Lance of Central; brother, Samuel S. Haywood of Sumter; three grandchildren, Tyler Lewis Haywood, Cedar Lewis Howard, and Raven Forrest Howard; and one great-granddaughter, Natalie Rose Haywood.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
