Robert “Bobby” Hopkins, 70, of Clemson, SC, passed away in the comfort of his home on January 8, 2024, after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Central, he was the son of the late Furman and Irene Hopkins. A graduate of D.W. Daniel High School, former magistrate, local business owner, and realtor, Bobby was a loved and respected member of the Central-Clemson community. He was an active member of Pendleton United Methodist Church where he served as the president of the Men’s Methodist group. He also served with Family Promise of Anderson County. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Bobby married the love of his life, Jane Brown, on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2001. Together they blended their families, 2 sons and 3 daughters. Bobby and Jane loved being together, traveling, playing cards with friends, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, serving at their church, and visiting their many grandchildren and great grandchild. Bobby lived a full life; he loved and was loved deeply. He was generous and kind, always willing to help anyone in need. Bobby had a grateful and content spirit. Even in difficult times, he would say, “Life is good, and God is good.” Bobby will be greatly missed by many. We are comforted knowing he is now free of disease and pain, with our Lord Jesus in heaven.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Brown Hopkins of Clemson, sons Robby (Ashley Fullenkamp) Hopkins of Atlanta, GA and Chris (Casey) Hopkins of Anderson; daughters, Stephanie (Dave) Cookson of Sunset, Wendy (Tom) Weldon of Ringgold, GA, and Michelle (Chuck) Adams of Seneca; grandchildren, Charleigh, Clive, and Dane Hopkins, Lauren (Houston) Kitts, Sean Stephansen, Andy, Hank, Trey, and Renee Weldon, Kirsten Brown, and great granddaughter Emerson Kitts; siblings Linda (Doug) Patrick of Greenville, Peggy Cover of Clemson, Gwen Gilstrap of Easley, and Ronnie (Cindy) Hopkins of Anderson. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Furman Hopkins, Jr.
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends. His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies are new every morning.” Lamentations 3: 22-23.
