Robert Eugene James, 83, formerly of Easley, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Laurel Hill Living Center.
Born in Cairo, GA, a son of the late Homer and Ethel Sanders James, Mr James retired as a textile employee and was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are 3 sons, Carl James and Dennis James both of Pickens and Lester James of Liberty; 3 daughters, Betty Yearwood of Knoxville, TN, Helen Ross of Pickens and Myrtle Guidone of Easley; six brothers, Roy, Jack, Ralph, Richard and Grady James, all of Easley and Jesse James of Anderson; two sisters; Geneva Lackey of York and Christine Sloan of Easley; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. James was predeceased by his wife, Diana Volinick James; a son, Robert W. James; and two daughters, Eva James Fowler and Lois James, and three brothers, Leland, Wallace and Bobby James.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial to follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday the funeral home.
Family members are at their respective homes.
