Robert F. "Bob" Jones

Robert Franklin "Bob" Jones, 84, husband of Nancy Norbeck "Nan" Jones passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late Lula Whitehurst and John Wilson Jones, Sr. He was raised in Elizabeth City, NC and earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University. Following his graduation he served for two years in the US Army in Germany. He had a varied career as a Mechanical Engineer working with many different companies. He began his career with Westinghouse, and later worked with Browning Manufacturing and TRW and retired in 2001 after working with Dilcher Engineering. He was a very active and cherished member of Fort Hill Presbyterian where he served in many roles. He served as an Elder, as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was longtime Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. He was a member of the Seneca Kiwanis and formerly was a member of the Lions Club when he lived in Maysville, KY. Bob and his wife were world travelers. In addition to his love of traveling, Bob was an avid reader and along with his wife loved to study and research genealogy.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, Bob is survived by a daughter, Catherine Renee Jones of Durango, Colorado and a son, Douglas Robert Jones and wife, Robyn of Alexandria, VA; and grandchildren, Caroline Elisabeth Jones and Charles Robert Jones.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother John Wilson Jones, Jr. and his sister Ann Jones.
Memorial services for Bob will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson.
The family will receive friends immediately following the services in Tartan Hall at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fort Hill Presbyterian Church or to N.C. State University Jones/Franklin Endowment.
