Robert Clifford "Tink" Lawing, Jr., 62, of 14 Monroe Court, died Friday February 11, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Lawing was born in Charlotte, NC, a son of the late Robert Clifford Lawing, Sr. and Dorothy Beach Lawing. He was a retired police officer, having served in Shrevesport Parrish, LA, Brunswick County, NC and Mecklenburg County, NC. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the V.F.W.
Surviving are his wife Linda Spaunburgh Lawing, of the home; three sons, Robert Clifford Lawing, III (Alissa), of Fletcher, NC, Aaron Christopher Lawing (Nelsie), of China Grove, NC and Paul Andrew Lawing (Angel), of Rockwell, NC; his step-mother, Shirley Lawing, of Myrtle Beach, SC; two step-sons, Preston Holland Riley, of Moncks Corner, SC and Richard Marion Riley, of Piedmont, SC; brothers, Artie L. Lawing (Beverly), of Inman, SC and Norman Lawing, of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Ramona Ross, of Concord, NC, Nita Bennett, of Stanley, NC and Angie Reece; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Daryl Lawing, Frank Spencer and Jerry Spencer and a sister, Mildred Harvey.
Graveside Services and burial with military honors will be 12:00 PM Noon Wednesday at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC, with the Reverend Raymond Davis, officiating.
The family is at the residence.
