Robert Coffer (R. C.) Moore, Sr., 67, of 132 Abbound Road, Piedmont, SC, husband of Lynn T. Moore, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Robert was born on January 11, 1948 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to the late Gilbert Marvin Moore, Sr. and Juanita Wrenn Moore. Spending the first half of his life in Emporia, VA, R.C. attended Greensville County High School and was a member of the Greenvsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. He then moved to SC to study in the Paramedic Program in Greenville and was one of the first Paramedics employed by Greenville County EMS as the organization was being formed in the mid 1970's, and he quickly rose to the position of shift supervisor. Over the course of his life R. C. worked in many careers, and was known by many as a kind, sincere, and devoted man, whose smiling face and colorful stories brought joy to all those he touched.
In addition to his wife, R. C. is survived by two sons; Robert Coffer Moore, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Scott Emory Moore of Greer, SC; four nieces; Margaret Johnson, Tammy Moore, Lauren Reasner, Haley Riddle; three nephews; Gilbert Marvin "Gil" Moore, III, Matthew Reasner, and Cody Riddle; and many cousins.
In addition to his parents, R. C. is preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Marvin Moore, Jr.
Because of R. C.'s devotion to Emergency Medical Services, the family would like active and retired Paramedics and EMT's to act as honorary pallbearers during the services.
The family is at the residence.
