Robert Willis Myers, age 75, of Liberty went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4th, 2024. He was the husband of the late Mary “Colleen” Horton Myers.
Robert was born to loving parents and raised in a home where faith in God, learning, and service to others were valued. He went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he earned a degree in mathematics with a minor in physics. After completing his education, Robert spent most of his career working for Duke Energy.
Robert was a devoted Christian and a member of Grace United Methodist in Pickens, SC. His love for the Lord was evident to all that knew him.
Robert was an avid reader, especially of Christian, science, and mathematic publications. He took great pleasure in learning, designing and repairing electronics. Robert had a lifelong love for trains and railroads, particularly those from the steam era. He loved to share his passion for the railways with those around him.
He is survived by his special friend, Mary Beelow, and cousin Terrald Knorr, both of whom provided support and comfort during his recent illness. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Edward Ray Horton (Nancy), sister-in -law Viola Jean Horton, many extended family members, and friends.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 309 East Cedar Rock Street, Pickens, SC 29671 at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9th, 2024.
