Robert Lee Perry, III, passed away at the age of 83 in Charleston, SC on September 6, 2025, after a lifelong battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina on Nov. 7, 1941, Robert was the son of the late Robert, Jr. and Beth Ward Perry, of Easley, SC and the grandson of the late Jess and Virginia Meader Ward of Bluefield, WV.
He attended McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN and graduated from Greenville High and St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, NC.
Robert worked in the Greenville and Easley areas as a realtor, contractor and developer where he bought and renovated many houses in the Greenville-Augusta Road area and developed the Perry family farm into what is now known as Heathwood in the Georges Creek area of Easley, SC. He was most proud of the many lovely homes he constructed in Heathwood.
He later moved to Bluefield, WV where he was active in the Rotary Club, where he was proud to serve as President. He was active in the Presbyterian Church, the preservation of historic homes, genealogy, and antique collecting.
He is survived by his former wife, Sallie Perry Myers; his two sons, Ward Bowen Perry, Sr. and Robert "Rab" Lee Perry, IV, and his wife Katie Perry. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Catherine Corte Perry, Ward Bowen Perry, Jr. and Olivia “Liv” Rees Perry.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Georges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
