Robert C. "Bob" Shirley, 76, of 129 Peach Drive, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at An Med Health.
Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Henry Ard and Jessie Alexander Shirley. Bob was the first manager at the A & P Grocery Store in Clemson then worked with and retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company. During his retirement years he enjoyed raising cattle, cutting and baling hay. He was a member and Deacon of East Clemson Baptist Church, was a former Worshipful Master of the Clemson Masonic Lodge and a former member of the SC National Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Dobson Shirley of the home; son Tommy Shirley and wife, Gina of Pendleton; daughter Debbie Donnelly and husband, Brian of Powdersville, SC; sister, Pat Collins and husband, Roy of Central; grandchildren, Justin Shirley and wife, Brittney; Michael Shirley; and Katelyn Donnelly.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wednesday at East Clemson Baptist Church with burial to follow in Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 PM Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
The family is at the home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to East Clemson Baptist Church Building Fund, 130 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC 29631.
