George Robert Tinsley, 83, of 411 Haverhill Circle, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Pickens County, the son of the late Claude Robert and Leona Hughey Tinsley, Mr. Tinsley retired as owner/operator of Manufacturing Equipment Company and was a member of Geer Memorial Baptist Church where he was assistant Sunday School Clerk, a former deacon, usher and Deacon Emeritus. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Bates Masonic Lodge #189.

Mr. Tinsley was a devoted Christian, an avid golfer and loved everyone.

Surviving are his loving wife of sixty-one years, Jean Hudson Tinsley of the home; and a sister, Ruetta Rogers of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Phil McAlister, Rev. Archie Sharpe and Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:30 PM Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Geer Memorial Baptist Church, 911 South Fifth Street, Easley, SC 29640 or to Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge, Greenville, SC 29601.

The family is at the residence.
