Robert James Tyson, 91, died June 27, 2009 at AnMed Hospital in Anderson. Born in Waxhaw, NC, he was the son of the late James Bryan and Daisy Tyson.
He was retired from J. P. Stevens and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his son, Dan Tyson and wife Natalie, of Greer; daughter Susan Matthews and husband Ron, of Huntley, Montana; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tyler Matthews, of Billings, Montana; step-grandson Reggie Titmas III of Greer, and a brother, Donald Tyson, of Lancaster, S.C.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Frances W. Tyson and a daughter Carol N. Stitzel.
Funeral services will be held 3pm Tuesday at Refuge Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow immediately in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Anderson County Animal Society, 6115 Highway 28 Bypass, Anderson, SC 29625.
